Introducing AI Legal Frontiers

Exploring the intersection of AI and Law

This newsletter seeks to explore the ever-evolving intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and the legal practice. It’s a space where We want to explore how cutting-edge technology meets centuries-old practices, pushing boundaries while raising profound questions about ethics, efficiency, and the future of justice.

I find the conversation about AI in law often polarised. On one side, technologists positions it as the solution to inefficiencies and barriers to access. On the other, skeptics caution against its ethical pitfalls and the risks of over-reliance. The truth, as always, lies somewhere in between, and this newsletter aims to uncover it.

Why This Matters

AI can be seen as just a tool. But it can also be a catalyst for transformation. Whether it’s improving document review, enhancing legal research, or shaping courtroom strategies, AI has the potential to redefine how legal professionals work. Yet, its implications run deeper and challenge the profession to rethink roles, responsibilities, and even the nature of justice itself. Topics that I find both fascinating and important for our societies.

With a background in international law and diplomacy, combined with my current technical role in software engineering and product management, I approach these topics from a unique perspective. My Master of Laws and experience at the United Nations taught me to navigate politics, complexity, justice and ethics, and my tech experience drives me to seek innovation. Now, I’m curious: how can AI not just serve the law but empower it to evolve?

Inspiration

This newsletter draws inspiration from the writings of Derek Sivers and Paul Graham. Writing here is not just about sharing knowledge and hopefully bring some clarity on a topic, but it’s also about refining my own thinking, guided by Derek Sivers (yes, I am a big fan!) saying: “I think through writing. My way of figuring out what I think is to write about it.”

Join me as we navigate the ethical dilemmas, technological breakthroughs, and transformative potential of AI in the legal world.
